How to Become a Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) Provider

The first step to becoming a VPK Program Provider is to become familiar with the general guidelines and rules for the VPK Program.
 
The next step is downloading and completing the following forms:
  • VPK-10 for the site’s location
  • VPK-11 for each VPK classroom at the site
Additional paperwork is also necessary. The requirements vary based on whether you want to become a provider for the VPK school year or the VPK summer session.

Once all paperwork is completed, it should be mailed or delivered to:

Paperwork required to Apply for VPK School Year
  • AWI-VPK 10 and
  • Copy of current Director Credential
  • Copy of current Gold Seal Certificate (if applicable)
  • Copy of current DCF license
  • Copy of current accrediting certificate, if not licensed
  • AWI-VPK 11 and
For each credentialed VPK Instructor, you must include the following:
 
1: Copy of one (1) of the following credentials:
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) of Equivalent (CDAE) earned within the last five (5) years; or
  • An Associate’s Degree or higher in Child Development Early Childhood Education; or
  • An Associate’s Degree or higher in an unrelated field, with at least 6 Credits in early childhood education or child development, and at least 480 hours of experience in teaching or providing childcare services for children any age from birth to 8 years of age; or
  • A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in early childhood education, prekindergarten or primary education, preschool education, or family and consumer science; or
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in elementary education, if the pre-k instructor has been certified to teach children any age from birth through 6th grade, with a Florida Educator’s Certificate, regardless whether the certificate is current or not, and has not had this educator certificate suspended or revoked. Please note that a teaching degree from another country must be evaluated and translated by an accredited organization and submitted to DCF for approval.
2: Copy of a five (or more) hour Early Literacy training certificate. If Literacy
training was completed after October 1, 2005, it must be the VPK Emergent
Literacy course.
 
3: Copy of Local Criminal Background Screening, done in the county in which
the instructor resides, completed within the last 5 years.
 
4: Copy of Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Criminal
Background Screening completed in the past 5 years.
 
5: Copy of Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Background check
completed within the last 5 years.
 
6: Copy of Attestation of Good Moral Character completed within the last
year.
 
7: Copy of Resume, Work History or evidence of the same.
 
8: Evidence of completion of VPK Standards Training
 
Secondary Instructors (Assistants) must include numbers 3-6.
 
NOTE: Class size may not exceed 18 students during school year.
 
Paperwork required to Apply for VPK Summer Session
 
1: AWI-VPK 10 (If you are not a current VPK provider) and:
  • Copy of Director Credential Enclosed
  • Copy of Gold Seal Certificate (if applicable)
  • Copy of DCF license
  • Copy of accrediting certificate if not licensed
  • AWI-VPK 11 (for each classroom) and:
For each credentialed VPK Instructor, you must include the following:

VPK and SCHOOL READINESS ASSISTANCE

Wait-list for School Readiness Program

The Early Learning Coalition of St. Lucie County will activate a School Readiness wait-list, effective Tuesday 7/9/2019 at 11: 59:00 pm, in order to focus efforts on EFS Modernization true-up for the fiscal year ending 6/30/2019. All applications received prior to this date and time will be processed accordingly. The Coalition expects the true-up process to be completed by mid-August, at which time, we  expect to begin pulling from the wait-list and continuing enrollment efficiently.  
 
The wait-list applies to the School Readiness Subsidized Childcare Program only and does not affect application for enrollment to the Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten program currently underway.

Office Closed for Labor Day holiday

 
The Early Learning Coalition of St. Lucie County, Inc. office will be closed for the Labor Day holiday on Monday, September 2, 2019. Our office will re-open with regular office hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm on Tuesday, September 3, 2019.

We've moved our office to a NEW, PERMANENT, MORE CONVENIENT location! Our new office is on the Third Floor of the Treasure Health Building, 5000 Dunn Road, in Fort Pierce (on the corner of Midway Road and Dunn) with regular office hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.
