  • This legislatively designated program is free to children residing in Florida who are four-years-old on or before September 1 of their prekindergarten year.
  • VPK gives each child an opportunity to achieve more in school and throughout life with quality programs that include high performance standards, appropriate curricula, substantial instruction periods, manageable class sizes, qualified instructors and accountability,
  • Children can participate in a 540-hour VPK program during the school year or the 300-hour summer VPK program.
  • The program is jointly sponsored by the Agency for Workforce Innovation (AWI) and the Department of Education (DOE).
